THE MICHAEL WATSON TRUST

The Michael Watson Trust for Psychodrama was registered as a charity by the Charity Commission in June 1994.

The objects of the Trust are to advance research and public education in the use of Psychodrama in the United Kingdom and Eire.

It is independent of the British Psychodrama Association.

The trust currently offers the following:

  • Bursaries of £150 for trainees and practitioners of psychodrama and sociodrama to run promotional workshops.
  • Bursaries of £150 to members of the BPA, who live in UK or Ireland to attend the annual conference.

The number of bursaries offered per year depends on the Trust’s income in the preceding year.

About Michael Watson:

Mike was chair of the BPA from 1989-1994. The Association gained great benefit from his energy, commitment, humour, and unstinting hard work. He was also the Principal Psychotherapist (Psychodrama) for North Staffs H.A, the first such post of its kind in the country. He provided training abroad in the country previously known as Yugoslavia, and wrote about his chosen field of Psychotherapy.

At the time of his death he was editing the book “Psychodrama since Moreno” as well as writing for other publications. The Trust was named after Mike with the support of his family and friends and has continued to provide financial support to students of Psychodrama and Sociodrama ever since.

The Michael Watson Trust is only able to function with the support of the work of the trustees and the fundraising events held annually at the BPA conference. Money may also be donated directly or by deed of covenant or through legacies.
