Pre-Conference Training โ€” Day 1

Beyond the Surface โ€” Sociometry as the Foundation for Deep Psychodramatic Healing

A 2-day training ยท Facilitated by Louise Lipman, TEP, LCSW-R, CGP

If you are new to Morenian methods, this pre-conference training offers a welcoming, experiential introduction to powerful group work that goes beyond theory. Sociometry makes relationships visible, builds safety quickly, and unlocks creativity and connection in the room.

Sociometry is the umbrella and the container for Psychodrama, Sociodrama and Group Psychotherapy in Jacob Moreno's Triadic system. It is a wellspring for clarity and healing, opening the door to the creative consciousness of the group.

Sociometry reveals the individual's and group's internal and external resources through the identification of telic (intuitive) choices, and is the key to understanding the covert and overt structure embedded in social networks. In a practical sense, it allows the group to identify the transference, tele, open tension systems, act hungers and psychodramas that are part of its makeup โ€” crucial to understanding group dynamic.

Sociometry is much more than a set of warm-up exercises. It is the philosophy and methodology that guides psychodramatic and sociodramatic group work, laying the foundation for deep emotional and spiritual healing for the individual and the community.

"Sociometry without Psychodrama is sterile, and Psychodrama without Sociometry is blind." โ€” Jonathan Moreno

Whether you are new to the modality or curious to deepen your group practice, this training will show you how meaningful change happens when people are met through relationship, action, and shared experience.

Learning Outcomes
  • Identify the ways in which Sociometry deepens the Psychodramatic/Sociodramatic experience
  • Describe the ways in which Sociometry helps to clarify group dynamics
  • Define and illustrate Sociometric tools and techniques which contribute to the integration of Sociometry and Psychodrama in Group Process
